THE JOURNAL - NOVEMBER 2026
Irish Wool, Year After Year
Some pieces at Noema James do not change with the season. The Evergreen collection is one of them. I carry it season after season, year after year, and every piece is made in 100% Irish wool.
The collection is named Evergreen. This why it matters:
It starts with the fabric
Wool is one of the oldest fabrics we have, and one of the most honest. It grows back every year. It holds its shape, breathes, and resists creasing and odour, so it needs far less washing than most fabrics. At the end of a long life, it returns to the soil instead of sitting in landfill for generations.
When a fabric works this hard, the responsible thing is to keep making it well, not to keep replacing it.
Why the collection does not change
Fashion is built on the idea that last season is finished. I do not agree. A good coat should not expire in March.
The Evergreen collection exists so that a piece you buy this winter will still be in the collection next winter, and the one after. If you want it in a second colour, or your daughter wants the same coat years from today, it will be there. Because we hold the fabric in stock, a sold-out piece or a missing size can be made for you in about two weeks.
This is how we make less. We produce what is asked for, from fabric we already have, rather than guessing at volume and clearing what is left over.
Investing in Ireland
Ireland has been my home for twenty-one years, and this house was built here. Our wool is woven in Donegal. We produce in Ireland first, and only go to Spain when volumes are too large for Irish production. Our team, our patternist, our design and marketing are based here.
Noema James is a member of Guaranteed Irish because the principle is simple: buy Irish, hire Irish, and work with Irish people wherever we can. When you choose a piece from the Evergreen collection, the money stays close to where the cloth was woven and the coat was made. It supports skills that took generations to build and could be lost in one.
A responsibility we share
Sustainability is not only a promise a brand makes. It is also a choice the person wearing the clothes makes.
Our part is to make something worth keeping: honest fabric, careful construction, a shape that does not date. Your part is to keep it. Wear it often, care for it, repair it, and when the day comes, pass it on.
A coat worn for twenty years is the most sustainable coat there is.
This November, as the cold sets in, I hope you reach for something that was made to last.
