A Wardrobe, Not a Collection
Noema James was built around a small number of garments that return each season in new materials. The silhouette stays constant. The fabric evolves.
The Palma Coat began in Irish tweed, navy and camel, inspired by the colours and architecture of Mallorca, its stone and its proportions. Over time it returned in other colours and other fabrics, like merino wool and linen. The coat has never been redesigned. It has simply continued.
The same is true of the Gale Blazer, which started in tweed and now exists in linen and merino wool. The Nerissa blouse, originally in linen, has expanded into merino wool, and the same structure that defines the blouse has grown into the Nerissa dress. The Kate Dress, first made in navy tweed, now exists in multiple tweeds, wools, and linens.
Each piece is allowed to mature, to move through materials, to find new expression of the same idea. A wardrobe built this way never goes out of fashion. It deepens.
I did not design six separate collections. I designed a small number of pieces I trust, and I keep building on them.
