The Palma Coat

I designed this coat before I even knew what the brand would become.

I was in Mallorca, thinking about starting something of my own, and I kept coming back to one idea. I wanted a piece that could do more than one thing. Something I could wear as a coat, but also as a dress. Something that could feel structured, but still easy. A piece that would adapt to my day instead of asking me to change.

I started with the line. Clean, defined, but not restrictive. I wanted it to follow the body in a natural way, to give shape without forcing it. The waist matters, the length matters, the balance matters. Every decision came from how I would wear it myself.

For me, durability was never only about fabric. It was about relevance. I wanted a coat I would still reach for years later, not because it was new, but because it still worked.

There was also something more personal behind it. I was looking for a sense of steadiness. A piece I could rely on when I needed to feel composed and certain. The structure became a way to hold that. When I put it on, I feel contained, clear, and ready. It gives me a kind of protection without distance. I did not set out to design that in words, but I knew the feeling I was trying to reach.

The Palma coat sits in that space between a coat and a dress. When I close it, it becomes a complete look on its own. When I leave it open, it feels more relaxed, layered, part of a wider outfit. It moves with me depending on the moment.

I chose natural fibres because I wanted the piece to last and to feel right on the body. It holds its structure, but it never feels rigid. It is made to be worn often, not saved.

This coat carries the beginning of Noema James for me. It comes from a simple need. One piece that works, that lasts, and that feels like you.
